KHADAK ENTERS GERMAN CINEMAS
On April 15th Khadak had its avant-premiere in Berlin and on April 17th 25 copies entered theaters throughout Germany. Khadak is being distributed in Germany by Farbfilm Verleih.
KHADAK COMES HOME TO MONGOLIA
On March 20th Khadak was presented for the first time to a Mongolian public at the avant-premiere in Tenggis Theater in Ulaanbaatar. Four hundred people were in attendance including the cast and crew and their families. Also in attendance were twenty-five shamans. After the screening the shamans expressed their deep respect and gratitude to the team saying that the film is an incredibly accurate portrayal of their beliefs and a beautiful achievement. The public responded so enthusiastically to the film that the cinema immediately programmed almost fifty more screenings. Among comments from the public include 'the film is an earthquake', 'the film is brave and demonstrates respect for Mongolia', 'the film deserves credit since the negative and positive are nicely balanced'.
BEST ACTOR/BEST ACTRESS
Batzul Khayankhyarvaa and Tsetsegee Byamba just won Best Actor and Best Actress in Singapore at the First Asian Films Festival on December 4th. Tsetsegee was in attendance and received the Swarovski statues on stage at the Raffles Hotel.
KHADAK WINS FIPRESCI AWARD IN NORWAY
Khadak was awarded the prestigious Fipresci Award at the Films From the South Film Festival in Oslo on October 14th.
TWO MORE AWARDS FOR KHADAK IN BRAZIL
Khadak won Best Feature Film and the Critic's Award at FICA
(International Festival of Environmental Cinema) in Goias, Brazil.
KHADAK WINS SIX PRIZES IN CYPRUS
KHADAK was awarded the following prizes at the Cyprus International Film Festival:

KHADAK GETS US DISTRIBUTION
Life Size Entertainment will soon release KHADAK in the US. Their representatives had viewed the film at Sundance in the World Cinema Competition in January.
KHADAK WINS SPECIAL JURY AWARD IN RUSSIA
At the 'Spirit of Fire' film festival in Khanty-Mansiysk KHADAK was awarded the Silver Taiga Special Jury Award.
KHADAK RECEIVES FLEMISH CULTURE AWARD
On February 5th in the Ghent opera house Brosens and Woodworth were awarded the presitigious Cultural Award of Flanders for their contribution to Flemish cinema in 2006. The jury justified their choice by praising "the thorough way of working of the directors which gave rise to a unique visual language, the result of which is a powerful and breathtakingly beautiful film-poem directed by extremely talented filmmakers."
KHADAK AT SUNDANCE
Khadak screened six times in the World Cinema Competition. Writes www.indiewire.com: "By far the best international feature here is Peter Brosens and Jessica Hope Woodworth's 'Khadak.' ... In the end, the film boasts a dreamlike thirty minutes that are so on point and effective they make you wish Lynch had taken a few tips from Brosens and Woodworth when constructing the second half of 'Inland Empire.'"
KHADAK RECEIVES THE "LUIGI DE LAURENTIS" PRIZE FOR FIRST FICTION FILM IN VENICE
Khadak was awarded the LION OF THE FUTURE - Premio Venezia Opera Prima "Luigi De Laurentiis" prize at the the 63rd Venice Film Festival.
Paula Wagner, President of the Venice Jury, presented the prize with the following words: 'This lion goes to KHADAK for its human and moral value.'
The prize includes KODAK film stock for a next feature film.
KHADAK's delegation from Mongolia and Europe was hosted elegantly in Venice by the formidable Venice Days/Giornate degli Autori section of the biennale. (www.venice-days.com)
TORONTO JURY GRANTS HONOURABLE MENTION TO KHADAK
KHADAK screened in the Visions section of the Toronto International Film Festival. A distinguished jury granted KHADAK an Honourable Mention for the Swarovski Cultural Innovation Award, which recognizes artistry, innovation and audacity. (Turkish-German film 'Takva - A Man's Fear of God' won the award.)
TWO SPECIAL MENTIONS FOR KHADAK AT BRATISLAVA
At the IFF Bratislava KHADAK received the Special Mention of the Jury for 'a universal message about people who can maintain their values of a meaningful existence and hope for the future.' KHADAK also received the Special Mention of the Ecumenical Jury, which delivered the following statement about KHADAK: 'Pure and deep cinematic language points out man's desire to find a place in one's life, to create a balanced relationship with nature and understand the spiritual essence of human being.'

TIME MAGAZINE COVERS 'MINE-GOLIA'
An August, 2006 issue of Time magazine included a 7-page spread about Mongolia and mining entitled 'The New El Dorado' written by Michael Schuman. KHADAK is an indirect reflection of the anxieties and turbulence produced by controversial mining policies.
